At Dr. Oetker, career paths are as diverse as the people within the company. This diversity of professional biographies also comes from the willingness of each employee to continuously develop, embrace new opportunities, remain curious and think outside the box. Flexibility and individuality are equally important. Simon, Sina and Sebastian demonstrate that there are individual career paths at Dr. Oetker. They share their personal experiences, how they have dealt with successes and challenges and how these have shaped their careers.
Simon Kost started his career as an apprentice industrial clerk and later worked in various HR management positions for over five years, including at OEDIV, a provider of infrastructure solutions and managed services that is part of the Oetker Group. Now he has been working as Project Manager in Corporate Development for over two years. Along his career journey, he also completed his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees while working. Sebastian Rahaus first successfully completed an apprenticeship as a food technology specialist, followed by an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk. Today, he works in customer service within logistics for over six years. Sina Rolletschek initially worked in Sales Support for three and a half years after completing her apprenticeship as an industrial clerk at Dr. Oetker. She is now Category Development Manager and is studying part-time.
During his time at OEDIV, Simon made a significant contribution to setting up the HR department. He recalls the exciting task of building new structures for the HR department in the company. Another important project he was involved in addressed HR management during the COVID-19 pandemic, ensuring that production processes were maintained. “We mastered the situation together as a team and I’m very proud of that”, Simon reflects.
One project that Category Development Manager Sina particularly remembers from her apprenticeship is the support and redesign of the Dr. Oetker Instagram career page, which she worked on together with the other trainees in the team. “It’s great to see what we’ve achieved and that the results are still relevant today”, explains Sina. Her time abroad at cameo in Italy was also an important milestone. Sina worked there in the areas of purchasing and logistics.
For the customer advisor Sebastian, completing two apprenticeships has proven to be valuable. His time abroad and involvement in two projects have both contributed to his personal and professional growth. “It makes me happy to be part of the company and the team. My diverse experiences and willingness to take on new challenges have always helped me improve”, he tells us.
“The three-month stay in Italy during my apprenticeship was particularly impactful for me – both professionally and personally.” Sina Rolletschek
The three of them also faced challenges along their career journeys: studying alongside their jobs or moving to new departments. The varied training path requires adaption to new structures, reorganization and team changes, whereby leaving the comfort zone is unavoidable. This is not always easy! “But it’s exactly in these situations where the opportunity for personal and professional growth lies”, emphasizes Sina. Above all, their motivation to learn new things, gain a better understanding of Dr. Oetker’s business, and expand their network was what drove the three of them to take the step to explore a different area of the company.
“The world is changing rapidly – flexibility and the ability to react and find innovative solutions is more relevant than ever.” Simon Kost
For the three of them, the motto is clear: dare to take the next step! With its corporate culture, Dr: Oetker creates the right environment for further development with the support of the team – in line with the purpose of “Creating a Taste of Home”.
“The most important thing is to be open to new opportunities and take bold steps from time to time.” Sebastian Rahaus
